Saturday, June 23, 2001 ~ whats in a name?...

sup, my homies?... my counter continues to rise, even when im not updating my page, so i guess some people are finally visiting my site... a part of that has to do with the fact that my site was on the front page of bombermania... w00t!... ::josh does weird little celebration dance:: well, im sure most of you came from there, but if not, just click right here and visit their site... its probably the best bomberman site on the internet...

hmm, the name... still havent decided on a name yet, although vincent wong of the bomberman fantastic site suggested the fine name of dream bomberman... i thought it was a pretty good name, personally, and am considering making the final name to that... but, i still dont know... ive made a bit of a list of possible names (so far) for my game:

im leaning a bit toward the last title, a spinoff of the title vincent wong suggested... my girlfriend likes the name iBomber, and so far, shes given the only feedback ive had on the subject... c'mon, someone email me with a suggestion or to tell me one of the names is good...

speaking of emailing me, SOMEONE FUCKIN EMAIL ME!... please??... i dont care if its to say "i hate you, josh" (i can already see the subject line of a ton of emails being that), just email me... give me feedback... just say hello... tell me i suck... i dont care, i just want an email in regards to this website...

anyways, about my game itself... i got some wicked progress!... go over to the screenshots section yourself and check it out, then download the demo... its got 8 players (but all of the keys havent been assigned, so only 2 work)... its got the FireUp and BombUp items enabled... its got neat little icons of the SpeedUp and disease items, but they dont really do anything right now... its got a bunch of cool shit, so just download it already... oh yeah, and if your a l337 h4x0r and can figure out how, you can make your own maps... ill have a normal mapeditor in the final version, so dont fret, normal folk...

well, i wanted to say a bit more... however, its about 5:30 AM, im tired, and my cat (frodo) is buggin me to pet him... so... peace...

Sunday, June 17, 2001 ~ progress, bug fixes, and ego boosts...

ah, more progress!... ive been on a bit of a programming roll, so ive come along quite nicely in my game... im becoming too damn proud for my own good over this thing... im pretty pleased with things so far... ive pretty much only gotten good comments about the demo, ranging from "cool" to "dude that kicks holy ass!"... gives me a bit of an ego boost, heh...

speaking of my progress, i should say a bit about what ive done... many people couldnt play the original demo, but im glad to say that most bugs have been FIXED!... for example, if you didnt have a joypad connected to your comp, yet tried to run the old demo (even with the "numpad" option), it would cause an error... this has been fixed, along with several other bugs, and every system ive seen it tested on works perfectly... as for new features, bombs now explode, destroying blocks and igniting other bombs in the process... the only thing they dont currently harm is the bomber himself... download the new demo right now, trust me, its fun...

im still trying to decide on a new name for my game... another idea that has came to me is iBomber... that brings the current name list up to 6: bomberman nevermind, bomberman N, N bomberman, N-bomber, nBomber, and iBomber... so far, the last one seems to describe my game the best... again, some people please email me and give me ideas... anyone?... pleese??... ::sighs::

Tuesday, June 12, 2001 ~ what, people actually come here?...

a little early this time on the updating, i be... i just got all giddy about my current progress in my game... also, ive noticed that ive gotten about 50 visitors in 2 days... i wish i could block my own IP from showing up on my counter, but my current counter doesnt support it, and im too lazy to get a better one...

check it out... after finishing collision detection, adding in soft blocks and bombs was a breeze... now, i just have to make my bombs explode, instead of just dissappear, and ill have something... oh yeah, they have to do damage too, like kill bombers and destroy blocks, but ive already decided how im going to do that, so its gonna be nothing... hell, i might even have a two-player version of the game itself out in a week or so... "stay tuned," and download the damn demo!... tell me if it works...

Sunday, June 10, 2001 ~ a demo... cool...

BOOYA!... ive been able to produce a demo for my game... however, all it allows you to do is move the bomber around... more to come, soon...

i missed the one-week time period i had originally wanted to update my site in... i had a bit of a problem programming in collision detection... knowing when the bomber hit a block was no problem, but trying to find out if the bomber was only off by a few pixels, and transfering that movement to a sideways movement, proved to be a bit hard... i havent seen any other bomberman clone impliment this, but its a critical function in every bomberman game... if you dont understand what im talking about, just download the demo... its a bit fun...

also, i submitted my website to some search engines... lets see if it draws any traffic... dont be fooled by my counter -- most of the hits are from me checking/updating my website... if you do happen to visit my website, feel free to email me... id appreciate it...

one last thing... i changed the games name again, this time to N-bomber... it just rools off the toungue faster... still, any suggestions to a new name, id very much consider... well, before this gets too long, i should be going... "peace to my homies"...

Friday, May 25, 2001 ~ so it begins...

well, ive moved my website... i had just too many problems with geocities... no CGI bin, ad that i couldnt turn into a popup, no EXE files allowed on site (yet ZIPs are fine?? why??)... the list goes on... sorry if this is inconvient to anyone, but i really had to drop geocities...

N bomberman... so far, thats the only name i could think of for my game, as most of the good names are already taken... anyone got any ideas, email me... if i use your idea, ill give you credit...

im getting closer and closer to completing this game... check out the current progress and latest screenshot... i hope to have some sort of beta out within a month or two...

also, ill probably make this website a bit better sooner or later... however, i dont have many visitors, so its not that high on my to-do list... im going to place my site on a few search engines, so i guess ill just see what happens...

you may notice the bomberman webring graphic on your left... while not an official webring yet, it will soon become one... the job of ringmaster is up for grabs, and ive asked for it, but i dont know if i will get it or not... for now, ive made a little "webring remote control" filled with a few bomberman sites... who knows, maybe it will become the actual webring graphic... i doubt this, though, since the person who was going to start this webring has some damn nice web design skill... just check out his site at http://www.bombermania.com... sander, seriously man... go into the web design business... youll make some serious money...

sooner or later, ill add a links section to this site... for now, use the webring thingy... it contains most of the sites i want on my links page... ill have to hunt for some more bomberman sites to add...

no navigation bar on the left?... trapped in someone elses frames?... just curious as to what this does?... hurry up and and click here...
